TEXARKANA—Dominique Hollie capped a nine-play, 39-yard drive with his 1-yard bullrush to lift Whitehouse to a 38-35 victory over Texas High on Friday night at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park.

The senior tailback finished with just six carries for 19 yards, but his short burst up the middle regained the lead Whitehouse held from the final minute of a frenetic first quarter until the 8:16 mark of the fourth quarter. Jackson Allen tossed the ball all over the yard, connecting on 27 of 49 passes for 378 yards — 275 in the first half — and three touchdowns.

Senior Vincent Dunning turned in a workhorse effort for Whitehouse, rushing 29 times for 150 yards and a TD. Trent Williams caught 11 balls for 114 yards, Drew Smith had eight grabs for 124 yards, and Eric Munoz hauled in two balls for 69 yards. Williams caught the first of three first-quarter touchdowns, and Smith had scoring grabs in the first and second periods.

The teams traded four turnovers, Texarkana’s Jerry Wrightner returning his interception 29 yards for a score to cut into the Wildcats’ 10-point advantage just before the half.

Jarion Anderson caught a 9-yard strike from Cade Pearson for the Tigers (0-1), and Javon Thomas, who saw limited duty in the second half after being hobbled, rushed for three first-quarter TDs and finished the game with 136 yards on 15 carries.

The teams combined for 45 points in the first quarter, Whitehouse taking a 24-21 lead and scoring 21 straight points before Wrightner’s pick-six.

Colby Crim booted a 32-yard field goal amid the first-period scoring barrage for the Wildcats, and Texas High missed a pair of field goals in the nip-and-tuck battle.
