TATUM -- Colorado signee Dustin Thomas had his expected solid performance, while Cory Menah complemented him from the backcourt in Pleasant Grove's 63-48 win against Pine Tree in Thursday evening's Tatum Holiday Hoopfest game at Eagle Coliseum.

Thomas, a lanky 6-foot-7 senior who will play for the Buffaloes in the Pac-12 Conference next year, had a game-high 22 points on 9-for-16 shooting with 14 rebounds. Thomas made plays in the paint and also driving and kicking, which accounted for his game-high four assists.

Meanwhile, Menah hurt Pine Tree (6-9) from the perimeter. The guard hit 6 of 10 shot attempts and 3 of 4 free-throw tries to finish with 17 points, giving him and Thomas 61.9 percent of the Hawks' points.

Menah and Reggie Myrks combined on a 9-0 run late in the first quarter that put Pleasant Grove (8-4) ahead 21-7. Pine Tree's Caleb Chumley scored with 6:46 left in the second half to cut the deficit to 23-14, but Pleasant Grove answered with a 10-2 run sparked by a Menah three to take command of the game.

Pleasant Grove led by at least 10 points the entire second half.

Chumley led Pine Tree with 17 points on 7-for-19 from the field and 3-for-4 free-throw shooting. Fellow frontcourt player Robert Hines had 12 points, including 10 in the second half, and four rebounds. Guard Trever Barker scored 11 points, including a deep, left-wing, fall-away three-pointer off the glass at the first-quarter buzzer.

Myrks and Ladarius Reid scored nine points apiece for Pleasant Grove, which beat PT 31-22 on the glass.

Both teams shot well from the free-throw line. Pleasant Grove hit 13 of 17 freebies, while PT made 8 of 10. The Hawks had a slight ede from the field, hitting 45.1 percent of their shots to PT's 42.6 percent.

Pleasant Grove plays Carthage at noon Friday in Eagle Coliseum at the Tatum Holiday Hoopfest. Pine Tree plays Jacksonville at noon in the high school gymnasium. Bracket play starts at 2 p.m.
