NEW WAVERLY -- Fans attending Elkhart's District 21-3A game at New Waverly were not late for dinner.

Elks senior pitcher Mason Huffines earned a complete game shutout in the team's 1-0 win Wednesday. He accomplished the feat with just 59 pitches and did not record a single strikeout.

Excellent defense behind the mound was a quality both Elkhart and New Waverly enjoyed. The game's sole run came in the top of the third.

Lane Lisiecki, Chad Taylor and Trent Huff loaded the bases with one out on consecutive contatcs. Huff's shot to center field went off a fielder's glove.

Jackson Adair grounded to the shortstop for what could have been a 6-4-3 double play, but Adair beat the 90-foot throw from second base while Lisiecki charged home for the score.

Elkhart will be back in action Friday on the road at Crockett. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
