Elysian Fields got a huge performance from senior quarterback Trevor Spear in Saturday's 30-20 third-round vengeance win against Arp.

But the Yellow Jackets could not have avenged their 43-13 September loss to the Tigers without senior defensive back Zane Barge and the Elysian Fields defense. Barge had a career performance himself, picking off three passes to help EF contain Arp's offense.

Thanks to that trio of interceptions, Barge is the ETSN.fm Dairy Queen Defensive Player of the Week.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Barge played a key role in the Jackets' defensive performance against Arp. Elysian Fields held the Tigers to 222 total yards, including 7 of 14 passing for only 68 yards and four interceptions, three of which went to Barge.

In addition to his 12 catches for 300 yards and two touchdowns, Barge has 26 tackles and nine interceptions. That interception total leads East Texas entering the fourth week of the playoffs.

Barge and company helped Elysian Fields complete a 40-point turnaround from the Jackets' first meeting with Arp, which was Sept. 14. This week, Elysian Fields gets a second opportunity at redemption, this time against District 9-2A Division II foe Hughes Springs. The undefeated Mustangs beat Elysian Fields 55-14 in October.

Elysian Fields faces Hughes Springs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Longview's Lobo Stadium.
