Emory Rains Volleyball Wins Brownsboro Tournament + Carlisle Takes Second In Winona

BROWNSBORO -- The Lady Cats defeated Mount Pleasant in the semifinal round and took down Canton in its final game of the Brownsboro Tournament for the invitational's championship Saturday.

Rains defeated Mount Pleasant, 25-14, 25-14, and Canton, 25-14, 25-22.

Charlotte Bradshaw finished her time at the tournament with a team-best 46 kills. Ashley Gowin followed with 35 kills.

Shelbi Sheppard and Corley Cole broke 50 assists in the same span while also reaching 16 and 13 blocks, respectively.

The Lady Cats will be back in action Tuesday as hosts of a tri-match with Grand Saline and Caddo Mills.

Carlisle Finishes Second At Winona Tournament

WINONA -- Carlisle reached the Winona Tournament's championship game Saturday before falling to Rusk, 28-26, 25-14.

Ceci Deleon, who recorded a school record in single match assists Friday, continued on a hot streak in the first round of tournament play, a 25-16, 25-19 win against Center. She recorded 18 assists in the match.

It got better in the quarterfinals and semifinals against Waskom and Beckville's junior varsity team. Deleon dished out 18 and 21 assists, respectively, in a 25-16, 25-19 win over Waskom and three-set match against Beckville's junior varsity team.

Deleon hit a day-best 23 assists in the championship round. Julie Smith recorded seven kills in the match and finished Saturday with 32 total kills.

Carlisle (14-11) will host Winona on Tuesday at home.
