11.Lucas Askew

  • TE/WR
  • Harmony

  • committed to Texas State; additional offers from Memphis, Northwestern State, Rice, Sam Houston State, SFA, SMU, Tulsa, Wyoming; interest from Houston, Miami, Texas A&M (per Harmony coach Tim Russell)

Kicking off the top 10 in our preseason ETSN 25 is a player who is being recruited at as many as three positions.

Harmony’s Lucas Askew had a solid 2011 season as a receiver, catching 33 passes for 487 yards and seven touchdowns, but his 6-6 frame and potential for adding bulk has most of his recruiting suitors interested in him as a tight end. Then there’s a team or two intrigued by his potential as a 3-4 outside linebacker.

Tight end appears to be his natural fit at the next level. With five Division I FBS offers and a hand full of other major programs interested, Askew should continue to gain attention during his senior year, regardless of his commitment to Texas State, a Division I FCS program. According to Harmony coach Tim Russell, Miami has shown a lot of interest in Askew, as well as Texas A&M.
