4.Dac Shaw

  • Linebacker
  • Mineola
  • 6-2, 200
  • committed to TCU; additional offers from Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech (per Mineola coach Joe Drennon)

Dac Shaw was a star on both sides of the ball for Mineola in 2011, rushing for more than 1,300 yards and 28 touchdowns while racking up 95 tackles, 20 for loss, and six sacks.

But Shaw likely translates at the college level as an outside linebacker, where he’ll be a great addition to a traditionally strong TCU defense if he remains committed to the Horned Frogs.

Shaw and the Yellowjackets went 8-3 a year ago, but that won’t be as easy in 2012. Mineola jumps to Class 3A competition in a district with three teams that won at least five games last season, including Van, which finished 10-2.

At this point, Mineola’s 3A fortunes shouldn’t affect Shaw’s recruitment. With the exposure he’s already gained, Shaw’s offer list is expected to grow as he gets more attention thanks to his existing offers and the Baylor camp he attended in June.
