The San Augustine Wolves took a liking to Class A last season. After dropping from 2A during realignment, San Augustine swept through a difficult District 10-A Division I and reached the third round of the playoffs.

The Wolves used a fast and athletic trio to provide the bulk of their big plays on offense -- quarterback Bobby Tanner, running back Tony Hubbard and multi-purpose back T'Audra Taylor.

But those three are gone now, and head coach Donald Hubbard is looking for replacements as his team prepares for what appears to be another daunting challenge in district.

The cupboard isn't completely bare. San Augustine has eight total starters back, including massive offensive lineman Jarvis Payne (6-3, 315) and 2012's leading receiver Desmond Randle (6-2, 175). Junior Jamikel Roberts (6-0, 175) looks like the guy at quarterback, and if he settles in the Wolves' offense has the potential to be explosive once again.

Junior linebacker Jeremy Jenkins (5-9, 190) came on strong at the end of last season and will anchor a unit that hopes to give a young offense a chance to come into its own.
