It's no secret to us or most anyone else that East Texas is one of the best regions for high school football -- not just in the state, but in the country. Earl Campbell, Thomas Everett, Adrian Peterson, David Warren, Dez Bryant, David Overstreet ... the list can go on for days.

But even today, East Texas boasts an incredible wealth of talent that is ready for the next level of football, and we want to help showcase that talent.

We are proud to announce the first-ever ETSN.fm Football Recruiting Combine -- featuring exclusively players from East Texas -- will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at Accelerate Performance Enhancement Center (APEC) in Tyler.

This will be an invitation-only combine that will feature dozens of the top football recruits in the ETSN.fm coverage area. Each athlete will have the opportunity to show off their skills in front of other football players, media and maybe even a few surprise guests.

APEC will facilitate the combine and run each athlete through an experience you would see on the college and NFL levels. Athletes will go through 10 specialized drills, as well as drills according to position. Athletes will even be able to receive a score based on their performances.

The combine is completely free of charge to the athletes as well as coaches, parents and spectators. Our goal with the ETSN.fm Football Recruiting Combine is simple: Expose East Texas football players to the rest of the state and opportunities that arise when it comes to playing football at the next level.

Athletes, coaches and parents also will be able to hear information from special guests (to be announced later) about the recruiting process and how to market athletes.

Why invitation-only? Unfortunately, space is extremely limited. Not being invited does not mean we won't be following you or your players this season. Our dedication to covering East Texas athletes doesn't end with those who attend this combine.

We will quickly be in touch with coaches and players to organize invitations and arrangements in getting the players to APEC on May 19. So, stay tuned. We'll also keep a running list of players who are confirmed to attend right here on ETSN.fm.

See ya' May 19!
