ETSN.fm's Class 2A East Texas preseason poll begins with Cayuga.

The Wildcats have a seasoned team and 15 returning starters. All that is needed now is stringing together some wins in the Class 2A Division I playoffs.

Cayuga put on a run game assault last season on the way to an 8-2 record and a trip to the Class 2A Division I bi-district round, 45.7 points per game. Senior running back Keshawn Jackson, the younger brother of Texas A&M receiver and Cayuga alum Malcome Kennedy, rushed for 1,879 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Fullback John Venable also had a nice 2013 with 13 touchdowns on the way to 819 rushing yards.

The Wildcats' defense got a stranglehold on games last season and return seven starters. The group allowed 18.9 points per game.

Linebackers Brett Whitten and Jalyn Wilson are back to stop the run and intermediate passes. Defensive back Jimmy Pitts is one of the best on the 2A level.

Cayuga certainly has the top talent to make a run. The only thing appearing to be standing in the way of a district championship is a road game against Alto on Oct. 24.
