What can you say that has not already been said about the Tenaha football program?

Year in and year out, it's one of the best. This year, the Tigers will start at No. 6 in the ETSN.fm Class 2A/Private Schools Poll.

Losing former head coach Terry Ward to Harleton had to hurt, but Tenaha's administration scored someone who can probably come in and not miss a beat. It's Craig Horn from Hubbard.

Horn transformed Hubbard from an 0-10 team the year before he got there into a 9-3 squad the very next season. He never missed the playoffs, although the Tigers ended two of his seasons on the way to four straight appearances in at least the regional championship game round.

Having talent doesn't hurt. Tenaha certainly has that despite the loss of a great running back in Cobe Caraway.

Receiver Colton Goeke will be learned on more as a senior. He caught 37 balls for 579 yards and five scores last year to headline six returning starters on the offensive side.

Defense does not lag far behind with five returners. The front seven appears to be particularly stout.

Timpson is going to have a say in the District 11-2A Division II outcome this season, however. That team brings back 17 players from a playoff appearance.

Maud, Overton and Mount Enterprise also should be tough games.

The Tigers will prep for league play with a very challenging non-district schedule. They open the season with No. 10 Joaquin.

TAPPS Division II power Bullard Brook Hill, Class 3A Division I heavyweight White Oak and a very dangerous Alto team also stand in Tenaha's way of a perfect regular season.
