Competition should bring out the best in teams, and there's no shortage of competition in West Sabine's District 10-2A Division I.

Some early season tuneup games and difficult late non-district games against Deweyville and Hull-Daisetta should have the Tigers feeling pretty good in their run for another district championship.

Head coach T.D. Stark's team finished the 2013 season with a 10-1 record and a run to the third round of last year's Class A Division I playoffs. The current squad is a little short on experience, but the depth chart holds a lot of promise with 15 lettermen returning.

This team should be strong on both sides of the ball on the eight returning starters alone. Anything added to the playmaking department is a bonus which could help West Sabine climb the polls through the season.

Quarterback ReShod Williams threw for 20 touchdowns and added five more on the ground on the way to 2,319 total yards. His favorite target could be Joshua Duffey who had 502 yards on just 19 receptions as a junior.

There's a lot to like along the Tigers' front seven. Linebacker Ty Fore accounted for 80 tackles.

Defensive back Kirkland Wilson recorded eight interceptions in addition to 50 tackles on the back end of the unit.

The league will be tough with strong programs in Beckville, Joaquin, San Augustine and Shelbyville running around, but West Sabine's recent tradition and star power garners the Tigers quite a bit of preseason respect.
