The top eight teams in the final regular season 2A poll won or had the week off, so those spots remained unchanged.

Jefferson (7-3) lost 44-27 to No. 6 White Oak (8-2) to knock the previously No. 9-ranked Bulldogs out of the playoff race and the area poll. Elysian Fields (7-3) topped Paul Pewitt 29-15 to move from 10th to ninth, while Winnsboro (7-3) got into the poll at No. 10 for the first time since early in the season. The Red Raiders beat Malakoff 50-21 on Friday.

Top-ranked Newton (10-0), No. 2 New Boston (10-0), and No. 3 Hughes Springs (10-0) remained undefeated. Newton hammered Woodville 51-7, while New Boston drilled Mount Vernon 56-21. Hughes Springs handed Waskom a 55-26 defeat.

No. 4 Daingerfield (7-3) had the week off. No. 5 Tatum (8-2) wrapped up a playoff spot — District 9-2A Division I’s No. 1 seed, in fact — with a 31-15 victory against Harmony. White Oak remained at No. 6, and fellow 9-2A D-I school Troup (9-1) kept the No. 7 spot thanks to a 42-16 win against Sabine.
