ETSN.fm Final Regular Season 3A Poll: Gilmer Takes Over Top Spot

The "District of Doom" championship went to Gilmer on Friday, and the ETSN.fm final regular season 3A poll reflects the Buckeyes' triumph.

Gilmer (9-1) moved from No. 2 to No. 1 following the down-to-the-wire 20-14 win against Kilgore (8-1), which fell from first to third after suffering its first loss of the season.

Carthage (8-2), which was idle, benefited from Kilgore's loss, moving from third to second entering the Class 3A Division I Region III playoffs. District 20-3A mate Jasper (8-2) topped Center 27-21 to claim second place, the top Division II seed from the district, and the No. 4 slot in this week's poll.

The loss dropped Center (8-2) from fourth to sixth. Henderson (6-4) moved up a spot to No. 5 following a 41-22 victory over Gladewater.

Van (9-1) held serve in the No. 7 spot by winning the District 15-3A championship in a 35-21 victory against rival Canton (8-2), which fell from ninth to 10th. Bullard (7-3) is 3A's hard-luck team. The Panthers moved up two spots from 10th to eighth in the final regular season poll following a 62-3 blowout of Spring Hill, but failed to reach the playoffs from the loaded District 16-3A.

Palestine (7-3) fell one spot to ninth after its 60-59 overtime loss to Fairfield in the District 19-3A championship game.
