TYLER -- When ETSN.fm staff saw Daylon Mack in Gladewater's two scrimmages in August 2012, we knew he was going to be special.

After a stellar sophomore season, Mack has continued to grab the attention of media members and college coaches. His latest football exploits came Sunday at the inaugural ETSN.fm Football Recruiting Combine at Accelerate Performance Enhancement Center (APEC) in Tyler.

Mack, who measured 6-foot-2 1/2, 310.2 pounds in shoes, ran the fastest 40-yard dash of any of the 21 athletes at the combine heavier than 230 pounds, clocking a laser-timed 4.84. He also finished second among 225-pound bench press reppers with 21 and got the best of most of his one-on-one matchups in the afternoon, resulting in top defensive lineman honors and the overall Defensive MVP award.

The combine drew 100 football players in the 2014 and 2015 classes from dozens of schools across East Texas.

Mack, who had the second-best vertical jump, broad jump, and medball time among the combine's 11 defensive linemen, holds the most offers of the six East Texans in the 2015 class who already have at least one FBS offer. Mack's offer list includes Alabama, Oklahoma, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.

Mack registered 64 tackles, 16 for loss, six sacks, and six fumble recoveries in 2012.

Gladewater coach Jerrod Baugh will lean on Mack and strong 2015 and 2016 classes in an attempt to return the Bears to the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Gladewater's junior varsity, freshman, and junior high teams were a cumulative 33-0-1 in 2012.
