The New Boston Lions have emerged a true East Texas power over the last half-decade. Since 2010, they've compiled a record of 56-11, which includes five seasons with at least 10 victories.

So it should come as no surprise that New Boston has earned a spot in the ETSN.fm Preseason Class 3A Poll, checking in at No. 8.

New Boston followed up 2013's state semifinal berth -- the first in program history -- with a 10-2 campaign a season ago.

But with heavy losses to graduation, including two-way standout and TCU signee Jeff Gladney, can the Lions reload in time for a sixth consecutive season with double-digit win totals?

Quarterback Phillip Sissons and receiver Zac Gooden constitute two-thirds of New Boston's returning offensive starters, which is a good sign for the Lions' offense, but not so much for opposing defenses.

Defensively, New Boston figures to be in better shape with five starters coming back, including linebacker Deandre Dedmon.
