The Jasper Bulldogs dropped down to Class 4A Division II during the offseason, but no one is expecting a drop-off in talent.

Jasper is expected to be a team to watch in 2016, and the Bulldogs begin the year ranked No. 10 in the ETSN.fm Preseason Class 4A Poll.

Last season, Jasper finished 7-5 and reached the area round of the playoffs, eventually falling to No. 1 Navasota, 35-21.

The Bulldogs will need to find replacements for quarterback Tiger Williams and tight end Cody Mitchell (Louisiana-Lafayette), but with several impact players returning, head coach Darrell Barbay is feeling confident in his Bulldogs once again.

Running back DeCorrian Holmes and receiver Lorenzo Thomas give Jasper an element of explosiveness on the offensive side of the ball, while lineman Jaquion Daniels, linebacker William Bluitt, and defensive back Reese Durand should make the Bulldogs a force on defense.

Jasper moves into a new district with Diboll, Huntington, Rusk, and Tatum, which went a combined 12-29 a season ago.
