The Gilmer Buckeyes have been one of the state's most dominant programs over the past several seasons. Since 2003, Gilmer has compiled a record of 167-17 (.908), and won three state championships.

Gilmer enters the 2016 season having won 31 of its last 32 games, coming off a state title in 2014 and an appearance in the semifinals a season go.

The Buckeyes begin the new year ranked No. 2 in the ETSN.fm Preseason Class 4A Poll.

Gilmer returns 12 starters from last season's 14-1 squad, including a pair of dynamic weapons on the offensive side.

Receiver and Oklahoma State commit LaMarcus Morton is back after leading Gilmer in both receiving yards and touchdown catches in 2015, while versatile running back Kelton Collier should help give the Buckeyes' offense plenty of balance.

Defensively, Gilmer welcomes back safety and Louisiana Tech pledge Kollin Hurt, who led all of East Texas last year in interceptions with 11.
