Liberty-Eylau has re-emerged as a power player in East Texas over the last couple of seasons, having reached the state quarterfinals in each of the previous two years.

The Leopards will have some work to do in trying to accomplish that feat for a third straight campaign, but L-E does have several returning letterman in 2016.

Liberty-Eylau begins the year ranked No. 5 in the Preseason Class 4A Poll.

The Leopards, which finished 12-2 a season ago, graduated their three biggest weapons on offense in quarterback Ke'Mon Freeman, receiver Thurman Morbley, and running back Lamont Byrd. Missing on defense will be safety Andre Wiley, Jr. and linebacker Demarcus Pegue.

L-E must rely on running backs Kameron Levingston and Kevin Florence, while Decorian Phillips will get a shot at quarterback.

Defensively, it all starts with defensive end and Texas commit Lagaryonn Carson. Linebacker Michael Lindley will be a key on the Leopards' defense as well.
