ETSN.fm Week 8 5A/4A Poll: Mount Pleasant, Jacksonville Switch Spots Again

Eight of 10 spots remained the same in the ETSN.fm Week 8 5A/4A Top 10.

A week after trading the seventh and eighth spots, Mount Pleasant and Jacksonville did it again this week. Mount Pleasant (5-2, 1-1) moved to No. 7 following a 63-14 blowout of Marshall, while the Tribe (3-4, 1-1) fell from seventh to eighth after a 42-35 overtime loss to Whitehouse.

No. 1 John Tyler (6-1) kept its top ranking with a 35-0 shutout of Lindale. Longview (4-3) remained in the No. 2 spot despite a 25-17 loss at Mesquite Horn, while Whitehouse (7-0) kept the No. 3 spot following the aforementioned close win against Jacksonville.

Lufkin (4-3) hammered Bryan on the road, 47-7, to keep the No. 4 ranking. No. 5 Hallsville improved to 6-1 with a 38-0 rout of rival Pine Tree that saw the Bobcats take a 35-0 halftime lead. Sixth-ranked Sulphur Springs (5-2) topped Texas High 45-25 to set up a huge District 14-4A matchup this Friday at Hallsville.

The final two teams in the poll remained there simply because of the lack of depth in 5A/4A teams in the region. Tyler Lee (1-6) was again No. 9 after a 40-0 loss to Rockwall, and Texas High (2-4) stayed at No. 10 despite the 20-point loss to Sulphur Springs.
