ETSN.fm Week 9 1A Poll: Bottom Five Spots All Change, Top Five Stays Steady

The sixth through tenth spots in the ETSN.fm Week 9 1A Top 10 changed from last week after a wild week of football.

Tenaha (4-4), which had a bye week, moved up from eighth to sixth thanks to losses by Pineland West Sabine and Cayuga. West Sabine (6-2) fell from sixth to seventh after a 20-8 loss to No. 3 San Augustine (6-2), while Cayuga (5-3) fell from seventh to ninth following a 20-16 defeat at the hands of Italy.

Mount Enterprise (5-3) also jumped two spots from tenth to eighth after a 50-8 rout of Sabine Pass. Overton (5-3) made its first appearance in the poll thanks to a 34-13 win against Maud that put the Mustangs at No. 10. Carlisle (5-3) lost its third consecutive game, this one a 25-0 setback to No. 4 Timpson, to fall out of the poll after being ranked ninth last week.

The top five remained unchanged.

No. 1 Joaquin (8-0) beat Beckville 30-19 and No. 2 Alto (7-1) topped Grapeland 36-12. Alto travels to third-ranked San Augustine on Friday for what is essentially the District 10-A Division I championship game.

The same scenario happens Friday in District 9-A Division I when top-ranked Joaquin faces fourth-ranked Timpson.

Harleton (6-2) held its No. 5 spot thanks to a 35-28 win vs. Big Sandy.
