Contact Us Week 9 Podcast: Discussing Games With Big Playoff Implications, UIL Snapshot Day + More

John Tyler head coach Ricklan Holmes looks on during the Lions’ 43-30 win at Jacksonville on Oct. 25. (Mike Davis,

With the high school football regular season winding down to its final two weeks, there was plenty for our Gabe Brooks and Clint Buckley to discuss on the Week 9 edition of the podcast.

Among the topics are a couple of Class 5A games that will have a lot to say about the playoff races in their respective districts. A youthful Tyler Lee squad in need of a win to remain alive in the postseason hunt travels to Lobo Stadium on Thursday night to face District 12-5A front-runner Longview, while Lufkin hosts Conroe Oak Ridge on Friday night in a game for playoff positioning out of 14-5A.

Gabe and Clint then discuss a pair of intriguing 4A battles — Texas High at Marshall and Nacogdoches at John Tyler. Both Marshall and Nacogdoches have experienced big turnarounds in 2013 and could make big statements with wins Friday night.

The podcast also features analysis of New Diana-Elysian Fields, Troup-Harmony and the Queen Game of the Week that features private schools Bullard Brook Hill and Tyler Grace.

Before signing off, Gabe and Clint also breakdown what last Friday’s UIL Snapshot means for East Texas schools as February’s biennial realignment looms.
