WACO -- Everardo Garcia's 29-yard field goal in overtime sent third-ranked Malakoff past perennial power Cameron Yoe, 37-34, and into the state semifinals on a rain-soaked Friday night at Waco ISD Stadium.

Malakoff (14-0), which avenged last season's one-point playoff loss to Yoe (11-3), will face Yoakum (10-4) in the 3A Division I semis at 7:30 p.m. Friday from the University of Texas' Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.

The Tigers turned Yoe over on downs, ending the Yoemen's overtime possession.

Yoe had reached the state championship game in each of the last four seasons.

Malakoff junior quarterback Judd Miller passed for 277 yards and three touchdowns, including a 13-yarder to Tyler Russell with five minutes remaining. The ensuing Miller-to-Russell two-point conversion tied the game at 34-34.

Russell also had two interceptions on defense as Malakoff forced four Yoe turnovers for the game. Q.T. Barker had five receptions for 122 yards in the win.
