A season-ending knee injury hasn’t prevented Justin Dunning from picking up another major college offer.

The Whitehouse junior safety said via Twitter on Thursday night that Florida State offered him, making the Seminoles the seventh BCS conference school to offer Dunning.

Dunning a torn ACL in his left knee in the fourth quarter of Whitehouse’s 42-34 Sept. 4 win against Chapel Hill in Tyler. He had surgery Wednesday to repair the ligament tear.

Florida State joins Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech on Dunning’s offer list. He attended Alabama’s 49-42 win at Texas A&M this past Saturday.

Dunning is the second player in East Texas’ 2015 class to receive a Florida State offer. The Seminoles have also offered Gladewater junior defensive tackle Daylon Mack, who leads the region’s 2015 class with 14 offers to date.

Florida State has offered two players in East Texas’ 2014 class: Mount Pleasant receiver K.D. Cannon, a Baylor commit, and Longview receiver Dorian Leonard, who is committed to Texas.

Dunning had 61 tackles and a team-high five interceptions as a sophomore, when Whitehouse finished 10-2 and reached the second round of the Class 4A Division II Region II playoffs. Dunning had 15 tackles and one pass breakup in seven-plus quarters of action this season before he suffered his knee injury.
