LONGVIEW — The Spring Hill Lady Panthers lived up to their No. 4 state ranking in Class 3A on Tuesday night as they rolled over the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs in three games.

Spring Hill junior Jacey Fleet went 11-for-11 from the service line and knocked down seven kills to go along with her three digs as Spring Hill swept Chapel Hill in three games 25-7, 25-13, 25-11.

“We are playing together as a team,” Fleet said.  “Everyone is capable of playing every position and that’s what you need in this game.”

Arkansas commit Savannah Voelzke hammered down 13 kills to add to her two digs and one block, while Spring Hill teammate Rachel Riestenberg recorded 18 assists, one block, and one dig.

“I’m glad we kept our focus and played as a team,” said Spring Hill coach Karen Brundrett.  “Whatever Chapel Hill handed us, we wanted to make sure we were ready and I’m very pleased with our performance.”

Spring Hill had minimal problems in Game 1 taking control early behind 11 consecutive service points from Allison Akins to put the Lady Panthers up 20-4. Chapel Hill’s Schuyler Wages responded with a couple of aces but a Fleet kill ended Game 1.

In Game 2, Savannah Voelzke hammered down three kills to get Spring Hill rolling and Fleet’s nine consecutive service points put the Lady Panthers in control. An additional four kills by Voelzke down the stretch helped Spring Hill pull away for a 25-13 win and 2-0 match advantage.

Game 3 showcased the Akins' serving as she propelled Spring Hill to an 8-1 lead. Chapel Hill clawed back using some unforced Spring Hill errors to their advantage, but a kill by Voelzke secured the game and the match for the Lady Panthers.

Shay Ross led Chapel Hill with four kills, one block, and two digs and Wages chipped in with two kills and two blocks.

Spring Hill travels to Henderson on Tuesday. Chapel Hill hosts Gladewater on Friday and Bullard on Tuesday.
