RUSK -- Center capped its regular season with the District 19-4A championship in a 1-0 win against Rusk.

Taylor Tomlin scored the game's lone run on Caiden Rainbolt's one-out line drive in the top of the sixth.

Center (17-3-1, 10-2) -- which clinched the district's first playoff seed Tuesday due to Carthage's loss against Rusk -- would have gone down as a league co-champion with Carthage if it didn't pull out the win Friday.

Jacob Mitchell elevated his pitching record to 6-0. He earned the complete game win, striking two out in the process and allowing five hits.

The Roughriders will square off with Huntington in the Class 4A bi-district playoff round. Huntington did not win a District 20-4A game, but it qualified by default as a part of a four-team league.

Rusk (8-13, 4-8), the fourth seed from District 19-4A, will take on Lufkin Hudson in the opening round.
