CARTHAGE -- The 20th-ranked Carthage Bulldogs scored a 10-4 victory over the Rusk Eagles in District 19-4A action Friday night.

Carthage (10-7, 6-1) broke open a 4-4 game with six runs in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by Troy Davis' two-run double and a two-run triple from Hunter Townsend.

K.J. Harkrider went 3-for-3 with an RBI on the night, Cagan Baldree and Jarod Blissett each had two hits and drove in a run, while Townsend went 2-for-4 in the winning effort.

Cole Clinton (4-2) earned the complete-game victory on the mound, allowing one earned run on six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Carthage is back in action Tuesday at Tatum, while Rusk plays host to Center the same night.

 

Bullard Stays Perfect In District

GLADEWATER -- The Bullard Panthers remained unbeaten in District 16-4A with an 8-1 win over Gladewater on Friday night.

Ty Miller struck out 10 in the complete-game victory, while Nic Costas sparked the offense with a two-run single in the Panthers' four-run fourth inning.

Bullard (10-4, 4-0) hosts Gilmer, while Gladewater entertains Spring Hill on Tuesday night.

 

Elkhart Routs Jewett Leon

JEWETT -- The Elkhart Elks rolled to an 8-2 defeat of Jewett Leon on Friday night in District 21-3A action.

Elkhart (14-9, 6-3) broke the game open with four runs in the fifth inning. The Elks played add-on in the later innings with a Mason Huffines RBI triple, a Cullen Adams two-run triple and solo home run.

Tanner Tutt allowed only two runs on three hits in seven innings for the win on the mound.

Elkhart continues its season Tuesday at home against New Waverly.

 

Tyler Grace Too Much For Bullard Brook Hill

TYLER -- The Tyler Grace Cougars rolled to a 15-5 win in six innings over Bullard Brook Hill on Friday in TAPPS District 2-4A competition.

Chase Moore led the way for Brook Hill (8-8, 5-3) in the loss by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Blake Maddox, McCray Fletcher, and Jace Kuechle had an RBI apiece as well for the Guard.

Brook Hill travels to Dallas Christian, while Grace plays at Tyler All Saints on Tuesday night.

Elkhart Blows Past Jewett Leon

JEWETT -- The Elkhart Lady Elks had trouble in a 21-0 blowout of Jewett Leon on Friday in District 21-3A action.

Preslye Cox struck out 10 in a four-inning no-hitter, while going 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead the way for Elkhart (20-1, 10-0).

Allie Hays went 2-for-3 four RBIs, Tiffany Rosas was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, while Robin Grant homered and drove in three runs in the lopsided victory.

Elkhart hosts New Waverly on Tuesday night.
