LONGVIEW -- The Hallsville Bobcats kept their playoff hopes alive with a 64-47 win over Pine Tree in District 15-5A action at the Pirate Center on Friday.

Nolan Johnson paced Hallsville (12-16, 6-7) with 18 points, while teammate Blaine Parker chipped in with 11 points.

Pine Tree (9-19, 1-12) was led in defeat by Eric Hawkins, who finished with 12 points. Lucas Kirchhoff added 11 points in the losing effort.

Each team's regular-season finales are Tuesday. Hallsville hosts Longview, while Pine Tree plays at Greenville.

 

Mt. Enterprise Nearly Upsets No. 2 Laneville

MT. ENTERPRISE -- Laneville came within a point of losing its first District 28-A game of the season Friday.

The Yellowjackets survived, 59-58, on the road against Mt. Enterprise. It was the closest game district game for Laneville since falling to Oakwood on Dec. 20, 2013.

Mt. Enterprise's Dhailon Phillips scored a game-best 24 points in the Wildcats' effort. Christian Hammett also reached double digits with 14 points for the losing side.

Laneville (22-3, 11-0) was led by 21 points from Jaylon Grant, 14 from Kendrick Anderson and Ty Johnson's 12 tallies.

Both teams will close their respective regular seasons on Tuesday.

Mt. Enterprise visits Gary. Laneville hosts Douglass.
