WASKOM -- The 22nd-ranked Waskom Wildcats earned a decisive 67-41 win over White Oak on Friday in a battle of District 17-3A unbeatens.

Kevin Johnson led Waskom (7-5, 3-0) with 19 points. Eric Stephens III added 17 points, while Mike Reason had 14 points, with each knocking down three 3-pointers.

White Oak (2-1 in district) was led in defeat by Dax Davis' 17 points.

Both teams return to action Tuesday night. Waskom hosts Sabine, and White Oak travels to Elysian Fields.

 

Laneville Rips Douglass

DOUGLASS -- The second-ranked Lanevile Yellowjackets cruised to a 63-38 win over No. 23 Douglass on Friday night in District 28-A action.

Laneville (17-3, 6-0), a defending state finalist, got contributions from several players.

Ty Johnson led the way with 18 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots. Jaylon Grant added 15 points, seven assists and six steals, Tra Alexander finished with 14 points and eight boards, while Kendrick Anderson chipped in with 12 points and three assists.

Douglass (18-7, 3-3) was led in defeat by Cade James and Jack Garner, who had 16 points apiece.

Laneville hosts Wells, while Douglass plays at Gary on Tuesday night.

 

No. 3 Martin's Mill Dominates North Hopkins

SULPHUR SPRINGS -- The third-ranked Martin's Mill Mustangs continued its dominance with a 75-40 rout of Sulphur Springs North Hopkins on Friday night in District 14-2A action.

Davis Moore lit it up from behind the 3-point line with eight treys for his team-high 24 points to lead the Mustangs (21-4, 3-0). Hunter Conway added 22 points, while Logan Jenkins chipped in with 13.

North Hopkins (1-2 in district) was led by Michael Condo's 14 points. Alfredo Orozco added 12 points in the loss.

Martin's Mill travels to Como-Pickton, and North Hopkins entertains Fruitvale on Tuesday night.

 

Greenville Downs Pine Tree

LONGVIEW -- The Greenville Lions earned their first District 15-5A win of the year with a 59-42 defeat of Pine Tree on Friday night.

Brady Mulkey led Greenville (1-6 in district) with 16 points, while Justin Wade finished with 13 points.

Pine Tree (1-6) was paced by Caleb Robbinson's 11 points. Lucas Kirchhoff added eight points in the losing effort.

The Pirates are back in action Tuesday night at crosstown rival Longview.

 

Slocum Takes Down Lovelady

SLOCUM -- The Slocum Mustangs earned a 85-70 win over Lovelady on Friday night in District 20-2A action.

Taylor Hunt and Parker led Slocum (14-9, 2-1) with 20 points apiece. Connor Dickson was right behind them with 19 points, while Ethan Becton chipped in with 10 points.

The Mustangs overcame Lovelady's duo of Hunter Murray and Alfred Simmons, which finished with 25 and 22 points, respectively.

Slocum plays at Groveton on Tuesday.

 

Tyler Grace Rolls To Easy Win

TYLER -- The Tyler Grace Cougars had no trouble Friday night, earning a 76-35 win over Bedford Brighter Horizons Academy in TAPPS District 2-4A action.

Grace (12-14, 5-1) was led by Andrew Melhart, who had 18 ppints, including five 3-pointers. Trevor Gunter added 15 points, eight rebounds and five blocks.

The Cougars face rival Tyler All Saints on Tuesday night.

 

GIRLS

No. 10 Bullard Outlasts Kilgore

BULLARD -- The 10th-ranked Bullard Lady Panthers took a 29-22 win over Kilgore on Friday night to stay undefeated in District 16-4A.

Lexi Kirgan led the way for Bullard (25-5, 5-0) with 11 points, while Lauren Zachry finished with nine points.

Both teams return to the court Tuesday night. Bullard plays at Gladewater, while Kilgore hosts Gilmer.

 

Tenaha Too Much For Beckville

TENAHA -- The Tenaha Lady Tigers cruised to a 57-13 win over Beckville on Friday night in District 22-2A action.

Ke'Anya Davis led Tenaha with 24 points.

The season continues for both teams Tuesday. Beckville hosts Shelbyville, while Tenaha is at Timpson.
