Friday Softball Roundup: Carthage Clinches District For First Time In Nine Years + More
CARTHAGE -- It took 10 innings against Rusk, but Carthage was able to clinch the District 19-4A title in a 2-1 win.
It's the Lady Dogs' first league title since 2006.
Samantha Clakley earned the complete game win. She allowed four hits and three walks through the 10-inning game.
Kacey Maines batted 3-for-4 at the plate for Carthage (21-2, 7-0). Taylor Hughes also had a multi-hit night.
Carthage will close the regular season Tuesday at Tatum.
Camryn Rucker Throws Another No-Hitter
ELKHART -- Camryn Rucker struck out nine and did not allow a hit in Elkhart's 2-0 win against Palestine Westwood in District 21-3A action.
Rucker allowed a walk, hit one batter and had a third runner reach on error in the game.
Robin Grant and Shyenne Heuer both batted 2-for-3 in the win.
Elkhart (22-1, 12-0) hosts Crockett on Tuesday.
Katelyn Boles Throws No-Hitter
POLLOK -- Katelyn Boles struck out 11 batters and didn't allow a hit or a walk in Pollok Central's 13-0 win against Nacogdoches Central Heights.
Boles earned a no-hitter due to a defensive error.
Offensively, Baylee Adams finished the game with three hits and three RBIs. Shelby East stole four bases.
Central will next host Hemphill on Friday.
Bullard Edges Spring Hill + Clinches 16-4A Title
BULLARD -- The Lady Panthers scratched out a 5-4 win against Spring Hill to secure the District 16-4A title.
Kyndel Clayton earned the win in the circle.
Sara Ritch batted 2-for-3 and Ashleigh Gillard went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Bullard hosts Chapel Hill on Tuesday
