Friday Volleyball: Beckville Sweeps Carlisle

CARLISLE -- Beckville wasted no time in taking out Carlisle on Friday.

The Ladycats won in a sweep by scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-11. Miranda Mize led the team with 11 kills while Payton Jones added 10 and Jordan Tondreau had nine. Kinley Pepper finished with 36 assists.

Heather Craig finished with 12 kills and 13 digs for Carlisle.

Beckville improved to 32-7 and 9-0 in District 20-2A. The Ladycats will next face San Augustine at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Beckville.

Quitman wins nail biter against Alba-Golden

ALBA -- Quitman needed five sets, but it took out Alba-Golden on Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs won the first, second and final sets by scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 15-7.

Jentri Jackson led with 15 kills, 13 digs and two aces. Ava Burroughs had 10 kills and seven blocks. Shelby Hayes finished with a team-high 40 assists to go with 11 digs.

Quitman improved to 23-11 and 9-1 in District 12-3A. It will next face Edgewood at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
