BECKVILLE -- The Ladycats didn't have many problems in a 25-7, 25-7, 25-10 match victory Friday at home against Timpson.

Beckville, the No. 2 team in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association's Class 2A state volleyball poll, advanced to 29-5 overall and 9-0 in District 20-2A. The program is three wins away from closing district competition without a loss.

Carson Blair led the Ladycats with 12 total points, nine kills and three aces, while Natalie Morris served up a team-best four aces in the match.

The team aced 16 serves in total.

Beckville will visit Shelbyville on Tuesday.

 

Troup Downs Mildred In Five Sets

CORSICANA -- It took five sets, but Troup earned a big win against Corsicana Mildred.

The Lady Tigers won, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20, 8-25, 15-10.

Natalie Davenport played a hand in 28 points with 21 assists, five kills and two aces. Kori Minnix scored on a team-best 10 kills.

Madison Hampton and Alex Flora recorded 26 and 21 digs, respectively, in the winning effort.

 

Emory Rains Sweeps Wills Point

EMORY -- Ashley Gowin and Charlotte Bradshaw recorded 12 kills each to help Emory Rains roll past Wills Point, 25-22, 25-15, 25-14.

Shelbi Sheppard also had a strong match. She set up 17 points with assists.

Corley Cole recorded an impressive eight blocks for the Lady Cats.

Courtney Luckett played the biggest role in the defensive area with 11 digs.

Rains will host Brownsboro on Tuesday in its home finale of the regular season.

 

Alba-Golden Cruises By Grand Saline

GRAND SALINE -- Alba-Golden remained undefeated in District 14-3A with a 25-12, 25-20, 25-16 victory against Grand Saline.

Caitlin Lennon had the biggest day. She played a role on 23 various points.

Lennon recorded 15 assists in addition to five kills of her own and also aced three serves.

Cetara Carter scored a team-best 10 kills.

 

Whitehouse Falls To Corsicana

WHITEHOUSE -- Corsicana held off Whitehouse's comeback attempt in a 25-19, 25-22, 18-25, 25-20 victory in District 16-5A competition.

Despite the loss, the Ladycats turned in some strong numbers.

Brittany Taylor broke double digits in two departments. She scored on 16 kills and saved 28 points on digs.

Setter Molly Harris recorded 34 assists and 16 digs in the loss.

Whitehouse hosts John Tyler on Tuesday.
