MARSHALL -- Beckville downed New Diana, Troup and Huntington to punch its ticket into the championship bracket at the ETBU Tournament.

The Ladycats scoring through the three matches was well-rounded and plagued by opposition errors, but Carson Blair led all Ladycats scorers with 20 kills through the three matches. Kassidy Alexander added 11 aces.

The team scored 62 points in its defeat of New Diana, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18.

Beckville (10-2) only needed 52 more scores in a 25-8, 25-7 match win against Troup and a 25-19, 25-18 win over Huntington.

The Ladycats will begin championship bracket play today at 11 a.m.

 

Carlisle Rallies For Two Wins Late Friday

PIRCE -- The Lady Indians bounced back from early losses to Waskom and Big Sandy at the Big Sandy Tournament with straight victories against Leverett's Chapel and Tyler Bishop Gorman.

Macey Minnix and Madison Martin combined for 21 kills in the 23-25, 25-12, 25-18, 25-19 win over the Lady Crusaders. Cheyenne Vannier recorded 16 assists and Kelyee Adair was the defensive hero with 31 digs.

Jule Smith paced Carlilse (6-5) in its 25-21, 25-17 victory against Leverett's Chapel with six kills, six digs and three aces.

Smith also led the Lady Indians in their 25-14, 27-25 loss to Waskom with 10 digs and four kills.

Adair was credited for 16 digs in the 25-23, 25-14 loss against host Big Sandy.

Carlisle will be back in Big Sandy today for gold bracket competition. It will begin its day at 1:30 p.m.

 

Sophomores Help Quitman Past Hawkins

HAWKINS -- Sophomores Kammie Hicks, Kaci Raley and Molly Tanner helped Quitman to a 25-23, 16-25, 25-19, 25-16 win against Hawkins.

Tanner and Raley combined for 28 kills and 32 total points in the match. Hicks dished out 32 assists.

Dawn Houck, a senior, also reached double-digit kills with 10. Macy Wilson was the defensive standout with 20 digs in addition to six aces.

 

Winona Tops New Boston + Union Grove

WINONA -- The Ladycats only needed five total sets to get past New Boston and Union Grove.

Nichole Garrett and Randaysha Hanson led Winona to its 25-17, 25-20 win over New Boston with 18 combined points. Janeth Tarango and Danita Timmons both recorded double digits in the dig department.

Garrett also paved the way in the Ladycats' 25-12, 20-25, 25-17 win against Union Grove with seven kills. Hanson was credited with 10 assists and two aces.

Mallori Shacklett had a stellar match in the ace department with four and Tarango recorded a team-best 12 digs.
