SHELBYVILLE -- Leann Youngblood served up 12 aces in addition to three kills in Gary's 25-3, 25-9, 25-6 win at Shelbyville.

The win bumped the Lady Cats to 2-1 in District 20-2A competition.

Taylor Rodgers and Sydney Ritter also had strong serving performances with six and four aces, respectively.

Gary square off with Leverett's Chapel on Tuesday.

 

Carlisle Takes Down Leverett's Chapel

PRICE -- Elsewhere in District 20-2A competition, Carlisle earned a four-set victory against Leverett's Chapel.

The Lady Indians won, 25-17, 17-25, 25-17, 25-22.

Macey Minnix scored 19 points in the match with 13 kills and six blocks.

Keylee Adair and Haley Fears combined for 63 digs on the defensive side of the equation. Adair added three aces and three kills.

Julie Smith closely followed Minnix with 12 kills and three aces.

 

Rains Edges Crandall

CRANDALL -- Emory Rains scratched out a 25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23 win against Crandall in non-district play.

Charlotte Bradshaw led the way with 10 kills, five aces and four blocks in the match. Ashley Gowin scored 15 kills.

Shelbi Shepard recorded a team-best 21 assists.

Rains will begin District 14-4A play Tuesday at home against Canton.

 

Hughes Springs Falls To Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON -- Hughes Springs came up short against Mount Vernon.

The Lady Mustangs fell, 25-23, 25-23, 25-16.

Despite the loss, Charley Reeves and Peyton Blythe turned in solid matches with 10 kills apiece. Reeves added 12 digs on defense.

Savannah Wright chipped in with 10 assists.

Hughes Springs will visit Daingerfield on Tuesday.
