Friday Volleyball Roundup: John Tyler Defeats Marshall + Beckville Edges Troup

TYLER -- John Tyler bounced back from a sweep Tuesday against Tyler Lee with a five-set win against Marshall, 21-25, 25-23, 27-25, 18-25, 15-8.

Johnetta Preston and Shakendra Tilley led the Lady Lions with 13 kills each. Tilley also scored on an ace.

Lajia Taylor saved 17 points from going Marshall's way with digs.

Dazmonique Johnson had four blocks in the match.

John Tyler will visit Pine Tree on Tuesday. Marshall will be in action against Kilgore the same evening.

BECKVILLE -- The Lady Bearcats defeated Troup, 23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-11, Friday in their home gym.

Carson Blair put up 21 kills in the match to lead the team. Cassie Elizondo and Kinley Blair combined for another 15 kills for Beckville.

Kinley Blair scored on five aces. Natalie Morris had three aces.

Beckville (20-4) will visit Hawkins on Tuesday.
