EUSTACE -- Quitman remained perfect through its first round of District 12-3A competition Friday with a 20-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-23 win at Eustace.

Kaci Raley scored a team-best 20 points on 15 kills, four aces and one block in the four-set contest. Molly Tanner also reached double digits with 11 kills and three blocks for the winning side.

Cammie Hicks recorded 41 assists in the match.

Quitman will be back in action Tuesday against Mineola. Eustace will simultaneously be on the road to face Scurry-Rosser.

 

Carthage Opens District With Win

TATUM -- Carthage started District 16-4A competition with a three-set win at Tatum, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18.

Alli Capps led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 kills. Cindrasha Boykin's 10 kills helped her finish in double digits as well, and Matti Doffit came close with nine kills in the match.

Carson Robertson recorded a team-best 33 assists.

Carthage will travel to Rusk on Tuesday. Tatum also will be on the road at Center.

 

Rains Sweeps Brownsboro

EMORY -- Rains kicked off its District 13-4A schedule in 25-15, 25-6, 25-12 fashion against Brownsboro.

Charlotte Bradshaw scored a team-best 24 kills and Shelbi Sheppard recorded 32 assists in addition to a team second-best six blocks behind McKenna Hildebrant's seven knockdowns for points.

The Lady Cats will travel to Mabank on Tuesday. Brownsboro will be on the road as well to visit Van.

 

Gary Beats Timpson In Three

GARY -- Gary got above .500 by elevating its District 20-2A record to 2-1 with a 25-17, 25-18, 26-24 sweep at home against Timpson.

Leann Youngblood and Kristen Bell broke double digits for the winning side.

Youngblood scored on 12 kills and aced for serves. Bell recorded 12 kills and three aces.

Taylor Rodgers led the team in the assists department with 28.

Gary remains at home Tuesday to play Shelbyville.

 

Beckville Topples New Diana

BECKVILLE -- Beckville moved to 4-0 in District 16-3A with a three-set sweep of New Diana, 25-18, 25-20, 25-13.

Riley Seegers led the team with nine of its 36 kills. Kinley Pepper, the setter, got an assist for each Beckville point scored.

New Diana committed 31 unforced errors through the match.

Beckville will host Elysian Fields on Tuesday. New Diana moves on to play Ore City on the road.
