WHITEHOUSE -- Ashton Ates recorded 17 kills, five blocks and three aces in Whitehouse's 25-17, 26-24, 23-25, 25-23 District 16-5A win against Lindale.

The win moved the LadyCats' league record to 2-0 while Lindale dropped to 1-1.

Ronnie Fountain had a great night with 34 assists.

Megan Harris followed Ates in Whitehouse scoring with 11 kills and had a second-best 17 digs. Amanda Dimon led the team in digs with 25 and also scored with two aces.

Whitehouse will host Corsicana on Tuesday. Lindale will be off Tuesday and hosts Corsicana on Friday.

 

John Tyler Continues Roll Through District 16-5A

TYLER -- John Tyler remained unbeaten in District 16-5A with a 25-20, 25-14, 25-14 victory at the expense of Nacogdoches.

Kandice Jackson lifted the Lady Lions with 32 assists.

Johnetta Preston scored a team-best nine kills and Dede Rouege saved six points on digs in addition to seven kills in the match.

John Tyler will play a non-district game against Karnack on Tuesday and then visit the currently unbeaten Whitehouse program on Friday. Nacogdoches, 0-2 in the league, will host Jacksonville on Tuesday.

 

Beckville Opens District 20-2A With Sweep Of Overton

BECKVILLE -- The Texas Girls Coaches Association's No. 3 Class 2A continued its roll Friday with a district-opening win against Overton, 25-13, 25-14, 25-10.

The Beckville Ladycats are now 23-4 overall and 1-0 in District 20-2A.

Carson Blair had 15 of Beckville's 69 digs in the three-set win. Kimber Wesner chipped in another 14 on the night.

Carley Lawhorn had a team-best 11 kills. Blaire scored on 9 of 10 kill attempts.

The Ladycats will visit Carlisle on Tuesday. Perhaps with an even higher ranking.

 

Winona Sweeps Harmony

BIG SANDY -- Winona earned a hard-fought District 14-3A  win over Harmony, 27-25, 26-24, 25-23.

Kawaii Gordon, Bailey Daniels and Janeth Tarango were Winona's top contributors.

Gordon scored 18 kills in the match in addition to nine kills.

Daniels led the team in assists with 29.

Tarango took away 15 potential Harmony points with 15 digs.

 

Eustace Survives Malakoff Scare

EUSTACE -- The Lady Bulldogs escaped their home gym with a fifth set, District 18-3A win versus Malakoff, 25-10, 25-23, 15-25, 23-25, 15-6.

Eustace did a lot of damage with aced serves. Abra Roberts scored seven aces while Taylor Peebles and Grace Holcombe notched six apiece.

Kacey Lopez led the team in kills with 14. Peebles was second-best for Eustace in the kill department with 11 for a leading 17 points in the match.

Eustave will host West Rusk on Tuesday. Malakoff is back in action today at the Brownsboro tournament.
