EUSTACE -- The Whitehouse Wildcats are headed to the third round of the playoffs after a 58-47 win over Lucas Lovejoy on Friday night in their Class 4A Region II area-round contest.

Patrick Mahomes led the way for Whitehouse (27-5) with 37 points and 10 rebounds. Jake Parker added eight points, while Brady Hill finished with seven in the win.

Whitehouse will face No. 2 Lancaster next week in the regional quarterfinals. Date, location and time have yet to be determined.

Second-Ranked Tatum Routs Newton

LUFKIN -- The second-ranked Tatum Eagles had little trouble in a 70-43 win over Newton in their Class 2A Region III area-round playoff Friday night.

Tatum (31-4) will face Nacogdoches Central Heights next week in the regional quarterfinals.

Chaston Brooks led the Eagles with 16 points and added two assists and two steals. Klifton Willis had 13 points and five rebounds, Robbie Rockwell finished with 12 points and two steals, Jahee Johnson had eight points and six boards and Jakoby Lee had four blocked shots.

Newton was led by Calum Foster's 17 points. Troy Pegues added 14 points in the losing effort.

San Augustine Rolls Past Martinsville

WODEN -- The San Augustine Wolves cruised to a 66-36 win over Martinsville in their Class A Division I Region III area-round playoff Friday night.

Dez Randle led San Augustine (27-8) with 20 points. Jaylon Taylor added 12 points, while JD Brown and Jarvis Smith chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

San Augustine will face Alto next week in the regional quarterfinals.
