TYLER -- For two days, the Friso Centennial Titans performed well in three key areas: pitching, fielding, and timely hitting.

It was all too much for Hallsville.

Centennial completed a sweep of Hallsville with a 3-1 win in Game 2 of their Class 5A area-round playoff series Saturday afternoon at Mike Carter Field.

The Titans (22-11-2) advanced to the regional quarterfinals where they will face Forney next week.

Hallsville, which had its streak of four consecutive years advancing beyond the second round of the postseason snapped, finished the year at 27-6.

Isaac Maes and Noah Burt combined to limit the Hallsville offense, which struggled in both games of the series.

Maes went five innings, and allowed one unearned run on five hits. He did not strike out a batter, but induced seven ground ball outs and did not issue a walk. Burt worked the final two frames, striking out three and walking one for the save.

Hallsville stranded five runners for the game, including two apiece in the fifth and sixth innings.

Centennial answered Hallsville's run in the top of the third with three of its own in the bottom half of the inning.

Alexei Cazarin singled up the middle to drive in the tying run, and Michael Morissette delivered a two-out, two-RBI single to give Centennial the lead for good.

Mason Higginbotham suffered the loss for Hallsville, allowing three runs on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks in six innings.

Ty Meissner's two-out RBI single to center field gave Hallsville a 1-0 advantage in the top of the third, the Bobcats' only lead of the series.
