Gladewater 2017 defensive back Austin Hawley has picked up his third Division I offer, and more could be on the way.

Hawley (6-1, 207) announced via Twitter on Wednesday that Lamar has officially made him a target.

In addition to Lamar, Hawley holds an FBS offer from Louisiana-Monroe and an FCS opportunity from Incarnate Word.

Lamar, which is located in Beaumont, competes at the FCS level and is a member of the Southland Conference. The Cardinals are coached by Ray Woodard, and are coming off a 5-6 campaign in 2015.

Since resurrecting its program that was non-existent from 1990-2009, Lamar has posted a 31-38 record over the previous six seasons.

Lamar currently has six players from East Texas on its roster.

Hawley racked up 69 tackles, forced four fumbles, had an interception and broke up seven passes during his junior season while helping Gladewater reach the playoffs for the third consecutive year.

Gladewater closed its campaign with a Class 4A Division II bi-district playoff loss to Canton and a 5-6 overall record.

Hawley was part of a team a year beforehand that faced Gilmer in an epic regional semifinal playoff game and fell in the final seconds. Gilmer went on to win the state championship three weeks later.

At the fourth annual ETSN.fm + APEC Football Recruiting Combine in Tyler on May 22, Hawley took home Defensive Backs MVP honors. His highlights included a 32-inch vertical jump and a 4.59-second laser-timed 40-yard dash.

Gladewater will compete in District 7-4A Division II this fall along with Atlanta, Gilmer, Pittsburg, Pleasant Grove, and Spring Hill.

Hawley, like all high school football prospects about to enter their senior year, will become eligible to sign with any program that offers him in February.
