It was a rough 2012 season for the Gladewater Bears, which failed to win a game in the vaunted District 16-3A, a.k.a. the "District of Doom."

But thanks to an impressive rushing performance from junior running back James Reese, the Bears won't have to worry about another winless 16-3A campaign.

Reese rushed for a career-high 256 yards and two touchdowns in Gladewater's 41-10 rout of Spring Hill last Friday night. And for his efforts, Reese is the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week.

Reese (5-9, 155), who rushed for 149 yards in Gladewater's district opener against Gilmer two weeks ago, scored on a 9-yard run in the first quarter for the game's first score. His 74-yarder with 1:32 remaining in the fourth put an exclamation point to the Bears' first district win in 10 tries.

As a team, Gladewater rolled up 370 yards on the ground, averaging 8.6 yards per carry.

Reese and the Bears (3-3, 1-1) continue their season Friday at Bullard (2-2, 0-1).
