It's often said that the biggest players are at their best in the most important of moments. Groveton's Glenn Thornton met that description last Friday night.

Thornton, one of the most prolific passers in all of East Texas, put together his most impreesive outing of the season, helping Groveton secure its biggest win to date.

The Indians' signal-caller passed for a season-best 504 yards with four touchdowns, and added 71 yards and a touchdown on the ground in leading Groveton to a 34-27 victoy over Centerville in a battle of district unbeatens.

For his efforts, Thornton is the ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week. He follows last week's winner, Elkhart running back D.J. Williams.

Thornton completed 26 of 36 attempts, and had a hand in all five Groveton touchdowns. He spread the wealth around to three receivers, who each eclipsed the 100-yard mark on the night -- Dawson Chumley (11 catches, 207 yards), Saul Chavez (5, 154, two touchdowns), and Eli Stewart (6, 118, 2 TD's).

Despite missing two games to injury early in the season, Thornton is still putting up monstrous numbers. In seven games, he has thrown for 2,297 yards with 23 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also leads the team in rushing with 926 yards and 14 TD's.

Thornton and his Groveton (8-1, 4-0) teammates can clinch the outright District 12-2A Division I title with a win Friday night at Lovelady (7-1, 3-1).
