Devin Jackson not only won a championship, he accomplished a first this past weekend at the Longview City Golf Championship.

The Hallsville senior cruised to a 12-shot victory during the two-day event to become the first high school student in the history of the event to win the crown. Nineteen birdies fueled his two-day total of 126 for the championship-winning performance.

Jackson fired a jaw-dropping round of 60 in Saturday's action at Wood Hollow Golf Course in Longview. That put him within one stroke of the course record.

The Texas Tech-pledged golfer followed that with another impressive round of 66 during Sunday's competition at The Challenge at Oak Forest in Longview.

Jackson is scheduled to sign with Texas Tech in November. He finished tied for fourth at the Class 4A state meet this past spring with a two-day score of 1-under 139. The state trip was the second in a row for Jackson, who in 2012 became the first Hallsville golfer in program history to qualify for the state meet.
