AUSTIN -- Two East Texans sit in a four-way tie for second place after one round of the Class 4A boys state golf tournament at Onion Creek Club Golf Course.

Hallsville's Devin Jackson and Nacogdoches' Collin Frizzell joined Highland Park's Levi Pettit and Huntsville's Chander Phillips in a logjam for second after each shot an even-par 70 during Monday's first round.

Pine Tree's Bryce Alley enters Round 2 in a four-way tie for 23rd in the 72-player field. Alley shot a 4-over-par 74 in Round 1.

On the girls side, Texas High has five competitors after the Lady Tigers' team qualified at regionals.

Emma Edwards enters Round 2 tied for 22nd after Monday's 8-over-par 78. Camryn Parsons (85) is tied for 40th, while Hannah Brantley (90) and Madeline Hunley (93) are tied for 51st and 59th, respectively. Kamie Westbrook (106) is 69th.

Round 2 is Tuesday at Onion Creek Club Golf Course.
