WHITE OAK -- White Oak dealt Hughes Springs its first defeat of 2017 on Friday night in dramatic fashion, using six total touchdowns from quarterback Heath Hood to win, 56-20.

Coming off a 49-28 loss to Harmony and an off week, White Oak jumped on Hughes Springs early to take early control in District 8-3A Division I.

Hood threw three touchdowns and ran for three more, two of which came early in the second quarter to give White Oak an early 35-0 lead.

Hood connected with John Thomsett (10 yards) once and Colby Siegley (67 and 8 yards) twice -- all in the first half. His first-half rushing touchdowns came from 48 and 55 yards out, and his final run was for 8 yards just over three minutes into the fourth quarter.

Bo Reddick (22 and 1 yards) scored two rushing touchdowns for White Oak, which evened its season record to 3-3 and 1-0 in district.

Chandler King caught two touchdowns for Hughes Springs (5-1, 0-1), one from Andrew Gaul in the second quarter to make the score 35-6 and the other from Tradarian Craver right before half for a 42-12 margin at the break.

Ja'Kobie Craver also added a 44-yard touchdown run for Hughes Springs in the loss.
