One of the hottest college football programs in the country has officially targeted Tyler Bishop Gorman 2017 receiver Judah Bell.

The Houston Cougars extended Bell his first FBS offer, the rangy playmaker announced through his Twitter account on Thursday.

Bell (6-3, 180) is one of nine players from East Texas' 2017 recruiting class with at least one FBS opportunity, and the second to pick up an offer from Houston, joining John Tyler receiver and Texas commit Damion Miller.

Houston (12-1), under first-year head coach Tom Herman, claimed the American Athletic Conference championship with a win over Temple last Saturday and will be playing Florida State on Dec. 31 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl as part of the New Year's Six.

The Cougars are led by junior quarterback Greg Ward Jr., a former standout at John Tyler. Houston has three other native East Texans on its roster -- freshman running back Kevrin Justice (Kilgore), junior linebacker Tyus Bowser (John Tyler), and senior defensive tackle Tomme Mark (Lufkin).

Bell was instrumental in the Crusaders' run to the TAPPS Division II playoffs in 2015. He finished with 68 receptions for 1,350 yards and 16 touchdowns in only 11 games.
