Houston is always active recruiting East Texas and that’s not changing with the region’s 2014 and 2015 football classes.

Lufkin junior offensive lineman Erik McCoy is the latest East Texan to receive an offer from the Cougars. The 6-foot-4, 297-pound McCoy got his first offer Sunday, according to InsideTexas.com.

McCoy and Lufkin won their season opener 52-28 at home against John Tyler on Friday. The Panthers visit Tyler Lee at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

McCoy is the third player in East Texas’ 2015 class that Houston has offered. Teammate Terry Mark, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound receiver, also holds a Houston offer, along with Longview running back JaMycal Hasty. McCoy is the 11th player in the region’s junior class to receive a Division I FBS offer.

Mark and McCoy join senior defensive tackle D.J. Williams as the three Lufkin players with Houston offers. Mark is the younger brother of former Lufkin standout and current Houston defensive lineman Tomme Mark.

The Cougars have offered nine East Texans in the 2014 and 2015 classes.
