Darwin Barlow isn't slowing down any time soon.

Barlow, a 2019 running back from Newton, has blown up this offseason with many scholarship offers coming in. He received his seventh and eighth when Houston and UTSA offered him Tuesday.

Barlow is distancing himself from the pack, becoming one of the top prospect out of East Texas in 2019. He can bench press 350 pounds, coach W.T. Johnston said. He finished the season with 2,246 rushing yards and 38 rushing touchdowns. He also had 172 yards receiving and caught three touchdowns.

Barlow also holds offers from Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma State and more. He was an integral piece in Newton's state championship run this past season.

Houston finished the 2017 season 7-5, losing to Fresno State in the Hawai'i Bowl. The Cougars compete in the American Athletic Conference of the NCAA's Division I FBS subdivision.

UTSA was 6-5 in 2017 under second-year head coach Frank Wilson. The Roadrunners compete in Conference USA.

Barlow, like all juniors, can first sign with any team that offers him in December 2018.
