Jacksonville Boys Climb to No. 14 in TABC Poll + East Texas Claims Top Spots in Both Girls Class A Rankings
Following a Tatum Holiday Hoopfest championship, undefeated Jacksonville climbed seven spots in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 4A boys basketball poll.
Jacksonville (18-0) jumped from 21st to 14th after winning this past weekend's event at Eagle Coliseum. Pleasant Grove (10-5) finished as the runner-up and is ranked 18th in this week's Class 3A poll, which includes Spring Hill (9-5) at No. 23.
Defending state champion White Oak (12-0) remains No. 1 in Class 2A, while Tatum (11-5) climbed two spots from seventh to fifth following its third-place finish in the Tatum Holiday Hoopfest. Edgewood (8-4) is 19th, and Crockett (8-4) is 23rd.
San Augustine made a big jump in Class A Division I. The Wolves (5-1) moved from No. 10 a week ago to No. 3 in this week's poll. Grapeland (13-2) kept its No. 4 ranking, but Cayuga (7-3) fell from second to seventh.
Laneville (10-5) slipped one spot to seventh in the Class A Division II poll, which saw Oakwood (4-2) jump from 13th to eighth. Saltillo (13-3) stayed at No. 16, and Chireno (11-3) stayed at No. 24.
Girls
Lindale made its debut in the Class 4A poll. The Lady Eagles (10-3) are No. 24 in this week's rankings, giving East Texas its only ranked 4A girls team.
Liberty-Eylau (10-3) slipped from ninth to 12th in the Class 3A poll, while Pittsburg (14-3) made its first appearance at No. 22.
Winnsboro (10-6) dropped two spots to 12th in the Class 2A poll. Edgewood (9-4) moved up three spots from 24th to 21st, and Crockett (12-3) climbed into the top 25 at No. 25.
Martin's Mill (15-2) kept the No. 1 spot in the Class A Division I rankings, which also include No. 3 Slocum (14-0), No. 4 Martinsville (17-0), No. 8 LaPoynor (10-4), No. 17 Zavalla (13-4), and No. 24 New Summerfield (10-6).
Saltillo (12-3) took over the No. 1 spot in the Class A Division II poll after being ranked second a week ago. Kennard (10-6) was 14th, followed by No. 15 Bloomburg (11-4), and No. 17 Chireno (11-4).
Tyler T.K. Gorman (15-2) is the region's lone ranked private school. The Lady Crusaders moved up from fourth to third in this week's large private school rankings.
