MOUNT PLEASANT — JaKardi Witcher showed out, and Texas High clinched a share of the District 15-5A championship on Friday night.

Witcher rushed just 11 times but had 250 yards and three touchdowns to lead Texas High to a 35-3 win over Mount Pleasant at Sam Parker Field.

Witcher had scoring runs of 45, 1 and 87 yards, the longer runs coming on the first play from scrimmage on those drives.

Texas High (8-2) will play John Tyler in a 5A, Division I bi-district game next Saturday at Lobo Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

Texas High QB Cade Pearson threw a pair of touchdowns and was 8-of-16 passing for 135 yards and also was intercepted twice. Pearson threw a 43-yard bomb to Quan Hampton and a 3-yard TD to Kip Williams on the third play of the game.

Mount Pleasant answered with a 17-play drive that covered 60 yards. Sammy Puente boomed a 42-yard field goal to end the drive, that saw five first downs. The rest of the game, Mount Pleasant managed just four other first downs.

Travion Holloman turned on a 37-rush effort for 84 yards.

Jovanny Lira and Diondrae Williams each had interceptions for Mount Pleasant, and Ja'Kerris Lee recovered a fumble.

Jey Shon Hawthorne had a fumble recovery for Texas High to enable the visitors to run out the clock.
